Applying

• Before you apply you need to take course work in economics and mathematics 
• You will need to take the Graduate Record Exam and possibly the Test of English as a Foreign Language by November. 
• Submit your online application by the Fellowship Deadline in December. (See the Graduate Admissions Website for the specific deadline date for the year in which you are applying.)
• If you are not applying for fellowship consideration, the final application deadline is in early February. (See the Graduate Admissions Website for the specific deadline date for the year in which you are applying.)
• Our criteria for admission weight all factors:  grades, scores, letters, and past published work.

The Program

• The first two years of the program are devoted to coursework in economic theory, mathematics, and quantitative methods. 
• Students write an original empirical paper with faculty guidance.  The best paper wins the Hoos Prize and many of them have been published. 
• By the end of the third year students will present a research essay and take the oral examination.  The remainder of the graduate program is devoted to writing the dissertation.
